Just practicing naturopathy in Sydney was not enough for Anjalie Shrotriya. In the course of the eight years she spent in setting up her successful practice in Sydney, Australia, it struck her that there was a need for holistic treatment, in an ‘inside out’ way, linking the entire personality. The outcome of that thinking has led her to start an HR programme, which cultivates the executive mind, using body-mind integration techniques.
Anjalie and her electronics engineer husband, Vijay, formed navConnection to offer a module based flexible course which aims at doing for the mind what aerobics does for the body. They had observed that people join gyms and do aerobics to enhance their external personality, but neglect their internal personalities. Companies run programmes for employee welfare, spending large sums of money, but these do not necessarily de-stress their employees. This is what navConnection aims to do for people who participate in this program.
Poor posture at work gives you physical pain, for which you get treatment. What about your mental posture? Stress is internally generated by incorrect inner postures. Companies employ top executives, paying them high salaries for their mental abilities. Do they look for a return on this investment? It appears that a 10% RoI is the benchmark and we are saying, why not raise the benchmark, to 30%, even 40% and then look at RoI.

So, in 2004, Anjalie & Vijay began holding programmes for specific groups of professionals including doctors, software engineers and some employees of the CSIRO in groups. Encouraged by their results, they have evolved their programme over the past three years. The programme now comprises one core module, while the rest are chosen by the participant organisation. Additionally, the programme is tailor-made for specific industry verticals and for the level of the employees.
The word ‘nav’ in navConnection has many meanings. It is a short form of navigation (within), while in Sanskrit `nav’ means new and it is also the number nine, which signifies infinite. We use nutritional coaching, naturopathic insights, holistic life-style guidance and the organ-emotion link. We also encourage introspection, with no discussion allowed, and visualisation. The aim is peace of mind.
There are a lot of packages available for de-stressing and for inner peace, but these are more in the nature of curative and ignore the root cause. That could be dietary, organ-emotion linked, or a host of other possibilities. After all, prevention is better than cure and we are offering preventive measures. A peaceful person is a happy person and a happy person is a productive/creative person. |
